The exhibition of the Museum presents the history, archaeology and ethnography of the Middle Urals. The Shigir Idol (11 thousand years old) is of particular interest – it is the oldest known wooden sculpture in the world. There is also the Memory Hall of the Romanov Dynasty with the virtual reconstruction of the engineer Ipatiev house - the place of the royal family death and ethnographic collections built by members of the Ural Society of Naturalists in the XIX century. The Museum building is a part of the Gorodok Chekistov Architectural
